How much does resilience matter to learning? According to 350,000 student responses to the Resilience Survey and recent peer-reviewed meta-studies, it matters a lot. Throughout primary and secondary school resilience is positively correlated with academic achievement. As a school leader, how you promote resilience may be the most influential action you take. But where to start? The genesis of Resilient Youth Australia was a single innovative idea: to measure student wellbeing (resilience) in the school setting. We call this the 'science of wellbeing'. In this presentation, Dr Wicking will introduce educators to the key resilience trends across Australian schools Grades 3-12, suggest proven resilience-building actions taken by real schools and outline how you can make positive and influential data-driven decisions for the resilience of your students.
