Overview
As students encounter an ever-widening range of information sources, including AI-generated content, developing the ability to recognise credible, citable evidence has become increasingly important. In this session, Laki Sideris will explore the pivotal role of school libraries in fostering research literacy and equipping students with the tools to identify original sources, engage with evidence, and think critically. He will highlight the value of curated, context-rich resources that support inquiry and reinforce what trustworthy information looks like. Jess Darnell will then introduce Informit Explore - a research platform tailored for Australian schools, demonstrating how it connects students and teachers with curriculum-aligned, authentic Australian content. Through practical examples, she will illustrate how Explore supports lesson planning, builds research confidence, and enhances student engagement with real-world issues. This presentation will offer a compelling case for embedding library expertise and discovery tools into everyday teaching and learning.
