Overview

Student disruption continues to have a major impact on classrooms. What drives teacher decision-making in today’s classrooms — and which decisions boost productivity and wellbeing? In this session we will present the research exploring reflective practice and a simple framework, reshapes teacher decision-making to result in less classroom disruptions. Based on qualitative and quantitative data from interviews, classroom observations, and surveys, the study highlights how this professional learning program will lead to productive, inclusive learning environments. Central to this work is the Four Dimensions Framework supporting teachers in managing classroom behaviour, while reducing cognitive load, through intentional, high-impact decisions. The framework is backed by an extensive database of over 35 000 teacher experiences and classroom data, offering powerful insights into the realities of modern teaching. With teacher attrition rising globally, links to stress and continued behaviour management challenges, this session offers a timely, evidence-based approach to reducing classroom disruption and supporting teacher wellbeing. School leaders change schools. Join us to see the impact of reflective decision-making and this targeted professional learning that transforms teaching practice and learning culture in any school.
