Overview

Education is often seen as one of the most promising areas for transformation through generative AI. While much of the attention focuses on cutting-edge AI adoption in schools and higher education, combined with some practical advice, the picture of what is happening in everyday classrooms remains less explored. This presentation draws on insights from a year-long investigation into educators’ perspectives on AI, and a range of school practices. Through interviews with leading education experts and focus groups with teachers directly involved in AI adoption, educators discussed the opportunities, challenges, and practical realities of bringing AI into the classroom. I will highlight the different ways in which schools approach AI adoption and will discuss how this research informed PLC Sydney’s AI strategy, providing a case study in how schools are navigating this complex educational and technological landscape.
